As far as its nativity goes, the wild turkey is a native of North Mexico and the Eastern United States. Such was the liking for this particular species.

A very famous event called the National Thanksgiving Turkey Presentation takes place every year at the White house where the President of America is presented with a turkey by the turkey industry. As per the tradition the President gives a “presidential pardon” to the turkey and it happily goes to a separate farm to live the rest of its life. This tradition of gifting turkey to presidents dates back to the year 1947 when the first National Thanksgiving Turkey was given to President Harry Trueman.The turkey to be gifted on the National Thanksgiving Day are given a special treatment unlike any other ordinary turkey. The turkeys to be gifted are separated for their flock and raised separately on the Trites farm. These turkeys are hand fed and a specially made to interact with the people to familiarize them with the local crowd. The year 2005 stood witness to the 58th anniversary of the National Thanksgiving Presentation and two turkeys were lucky enough to get the presidential pardon and went their ways merrily to live in Disneyland. Ever since the year of its beginning, every president has performed their task of pardoning a turkey.

Global warming Facts 1: Melting ice in the polar north & south

Global warming has a direct impact on the continued melting of ice in the Polar Regions north and south poles. Ice in Greenland has melted nearly 19 million tons! And the volume of ice in the Arctic in the summer of 2007 only a half of from 4 years earlier!

The melting Ice is currently running much faster than forecast models ever invented by scientists. Some early predictions have been made previously estimated that the polar ice caps will disappear in the years 2040 to 2100. Recently, a natural phenomenon again indicates how serious this condition. On March 6, 2008, a chunk of ice covering 414 square kilometers (almost 1.5 times the size of the city of Liverpool) in Antarctica collapsed.

According to the researchers; slab-shaped ice a very large permanent floating around 1609 kilometers south of South America, south-west Antarctic Peninsula. Actually, ice is believed to be there since 1500 years ago. “This is a result of global warming,” said lead researcher Ted Scambos (NSIDC). According to him, the slab of ice called Wilkins Ice Shelf is very rare to collapse.

Now, after the separation, the remaining ices only 1950 square kilometers, 5.6 kilometers plus the adjacent slab of ice and connect the two islands. “A little more, the last ice will be drowned, and a half from the total area of ice would disappear in the next few years, “said Scambos.

The SID code is put into your handset after you sign a service contract. Then the phone is activation. When you turn your mobile phone on it searches for a SID on the control channel. Your cell phones inability to retrieve it results in the dreaded no service message being displayed on your phone.

Conversely, should a SID be found, the SID in the handset tries to match up with the SID that was located. When a match is made your cell realizes that it is working from home base.

Should they not match up, your mobile is said to be roaming. The system manager that your phone is roaming in, contacts the manager of your home system. Then your system manager checks its own database to confirm that your SID is valid. Your phone is then tracked as it roams through the various cells. Using someone elses network like that means added costs. The truth of the matter is roaming can hurt your pocket.
