Paris Weather – Best and Worst Months to Go
A Paris vacation requires spending time outdoors, so Paris weather is a major part of traveling there.
This world-famous capital of France has a number of hugely popular attractions either in the city or nearby. They include the Arc de Triomphe, Musee d’Orsay, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Louvre Museum, the Eiffel Tower and the palace at Versailles, which is a day trip for anyone visiting Paris.
Millions of visitors each year to these sites result in long lines to see them, and these lines often extend outside. In addition, Paris is a place for walking around and simply viewing the streets, buildings and people along Champs Elysees, Montmartre, the Latin Quarter and The Sorbonne.
So a Paris vacation plan should take into account which months have the worst rainfall and lowest temperatures and which ones are ideal for touring the city.
Visitors will find that high temperatures are not a problem throughout the year because the average monthly high temperature is 60 degrees Fahrenheit, based on statistics from the World Weather Organization. That average hits a high point of 76 degrees in July and August; stays in the 60s during May, September and October; declines into the 50s during March, April and November; and declines once more to the 40s from December through February.
The average monthly low temperatures barely break 60 degrees in July and August; drop to the 50s in May, June and September; decline further into the 40s in March, April, October and November; and reach lower to the 30s from December through February.
Unlike other vacation destinations, rainfall in Paris is moderate throughout the year. It averages 2.1 inches a month with a high of 2.5 inches in May and a low of 1.7 inches in August. The city has nine rain days a month, ranging from a peak of 11 in December to a low point of seven in August.
Based on a combination of temperatures and rainfall, vacationers will find that August and then July are the best months to travel to Paris. Other attractive months are May, June and September because of mild temperatures and fewer crowds. December through February are less appealing times to visit because of cooler weather.
